Fostoria Organizes DFCA Chapter
We are excited to partner with Drug Free Clubs of America (DFCA) to offer a life-saving new program for students at Fostoria High School. This new initiative will provide local students and families resources to help make the right choices and build drug free youth and adults. However, we need your support.
As a supporter/sponsor, your business or organization would have the opportunity to help recognize students for positive behaviors by making a monetary donation to offset club operating costs and/or provide rewards/incentives (gift cards, member discounts, give away items) for participants. In turn, we would promote your company as a club sponsor.
Did you know …
- Most adults with a substance use disorder began drinking alcohol/using drugs before the age of 18
- Statistics show that more than 16% of eighth graders use marijuana and over 20% of high school seniors have smoked marijuana in the last month
- Data from the 2019-2020 school year shows 13 office referrals for alcohol, drug and/or tobacco related reasons
- A survey of 34 students grades 7 – 9 showed that 11 of those students were at high risk for substance misuse
- A 2019 community health assessment shows that about 58% of youth are at great risk of smoking, 31% are at risk of drinking, 26% are at risk of marijuana use and 59% are at great risk of prescription drug use
- Statistics show that 60% of teens who abuse prescription drugs get them for free from friends and relatives
- Teens who consistently learn about the risks of drug use from their parents are 50% less likely to use them
